fleshLAB is a 17cmX17cmX13cm speculative vision materialized through 3D-printed plastic parts, electronic components, foam core, wire, and light created to explore a speculative question: what would a computer lab look like if the computers were the users and the humans were the “used?” Its scholarly motivation is to better understand the technoencounter, or the emplaced contact zones created specifically for humans to experience, access, or use technology, and the experiences and/or outcomes of that contact.
